CADET BAND

This band is comprised of woodwind and brass instruments and is designed for beginning students and students switching instruments. Cadet band meets during the school day and performs in two concerts throughout the year.

CONCERT BAND

This band is comprised of 7th graders who meet in two sections during the school day. Students in this band participate in three performances throughout the year. The Cadet Band performs as part of this group in the Concert Band’s final two concerts. Members of this ensemble will meet for small-group lessons one time per week during various class periods.

SYMPHONIC BAND

This band is comprised of 8th graders who meet in two sections during the school day. Students in this band participate in four performances throughout the year. Members of this ensemble will meet for small-group lessons one time per week during various class periods.

CHAMBER ENSEMBLES

These groups start rehearsing in December for the District Solo and Ensemble Festival in March. These groups rehearse during small-group lesson time. Possible groups are: flute choir, clarinet choir, saxophone choir, brass choir, and percussion ensemble.

JAZZ ENSEMBLE

This group is comprised of 7th and 8th graders by audition only. The jazz ensemble rehearses outside the school day once per week from early October until April. Students in this group perform several times a year and enjoy other activities such as the New Trier Jazz Festival and the Elementary School tour.

PEP BAND

This group is comprised of 7th and 8th graders, combined with the high school pep band, which performs at SHS athletic events. The Pep Band rehearses outside the school day once per week from the beginning of the year until February.
